Our Story

Jordan’s Side of the Story

In 2018, I transferred to Stevens in Hoboken. I was so excited for a fresh start, especially in a city I loved. I started to find my people and quite quickly I felt like I knew almost everyone at Stevens (it is a small school after all).

One night I was at the library working on a group project when I started zoning out (oops!). I was looking around, in my own world, when I saw him sitting in a chair, headphones on, doing his work. My first thought was, “Hey, he’s really cute,” and my second thought was, “...Who is that?” I spent the rest of the night wondering who he was.

A couple days later I was leaving practice and coming up on a narrow doorway when I saw someone approaching from the other direction. Great, I thought, now we have to do the whole “You go ahead,” “No, you go ahead!” spiel. But it wasn’t just someone - it was the guy from the library! Just my luck, running into this cute guy while I'm all sweaty. We exchanged “excuse me”s as we sidestepped through the door at the same time and went on our way.

That Sunday night I was enjoying a pitcher of Sangria with my friends at Mikie’s (of course). The bar was packed so I found myself sharing a table with some wrestlers I had just met. Eventually one of them, Brett, suggested that I should meet his friend, Troy. He went on to list all of Troy’s accolades just to try and convince me. When he showed me his picture, I couldn’t believe it. Library guy! I agreed to add him on Snapchat, he sent me a message, and we started talking that night.

He had sent me a few pictures of his coach’s new puppy and I thought, why not kill two birds with one stone? Why don’t I just go down to the wrestling office now to meet him AND that really cute puppy? So that’s what I did! I gave him a minute's notice before I strolled into the wrestling office with a friend. If I had just waited another minute, he would’ve told me non-wrestlers weren’t allowed down and saved him the trouble of trying to explain to his coach how we (barely) knew each other. Oops!

Thankfully the embarrassing moment wasn’t enough to change his mind about me - phew! He invited me to join him and his friends at a bar that weekend for his birthday. Of course I agreed. He met me at the door, and we started talking like we had known each other for years. I think I fell in love a little bit that night.

The next day we went on our first “official” date to a local breakfast spot. A month later he asked me to be his girlfriend after spending nearly every day together. Seven years later, you’re here reading this story on our wedding website.

Troy’s Side of the Story

I’m sure Jordan wrote a novel on how we met, so I will keep this short and sweet. Hopefully our stories match up.

Back in 2018, second semester of my sophomore year, I was studying for what was probably the finals, which was when I first saw Jordan. She was a transfer. I knew this, only because Stevens is small, and I would have remembered someone as beautiful as her before. I knew she noticed me as well because she sort of just stared at me (I’m sure she didn’t share this part).

Like I said, Stevens is small, and so it seemed like we would just run into each other all over campus. Coincidence? I don’t know, ask Jordan …

I hinted to a friend, Brett, that this new girl on campus was really cute, and I would need to grow up and say something to her. Well, I never needed to because Brett did the heavy lifting for me.

One night, again studying for a final, Brett texted me saying that he was with Jordan out at a bar and that I needed to add her on Snapchat. At this point in the story, Jo will say I reached out first, but it was in fact her who snapchatted me.

In essence, this WAS when we first met, but the first time we talked in person was when she uninvitingly walked into the wrestling office to meet me, my coach, and my coach’s dog! Very bold, and it worked, as from then on, we spent nearly every day together.

The end.

And the rest is history
